Why I Tell Lots of Different Stories - I was surrounded with stories in my youth and I learned ...
LIFE IS all about the STORY. It can written down or shared at the family dinner table, told around a campfire or in the parking lot with friends. Whenever I hear, "guess what happened", I am all ears, it means you are going to tell a story. True, fiction, funny, scary ... life is a story and woven together all those stories make a quilt that wraps you with comfort and love. So, What's Your Story?
Family Stories - Life on the farm in the Catskill Mountains was interesting with parents born in the early 1900's. In the evenings stories were told about the antics of things like Uncle Egar trying to fly or pushing a buckboard down the sidehill with someone on it and no way to stop. OK, so my sibblings and I got into our own "situations" as well. You will relate to growing up and living through the experience.
Celtic - I love Celtic stories, Celtic music ... I even like my tartan. I'm part Scottish. Infact, my clan keeps detailed records of our geneology. Everyone who has decended from John and Betty More have birth order numbers so I know exactly from whom I desended.
Jack Tales - Mountain Tales of a boy named Jack. (Giants, singing animals, Will, Tom and usually a touch of magic.)
Legends and Folklore about Herbs, Flowers and the Garden - Basil was once sacred in India, parsley has been said to belong to the devil, giving a yellow rose means you are jealous. Sit back and enjoy some with and wisdom about common plants that surround your everyday.
Almost Scary Stories - Sometimes it is good to be almost scared and a little gross. These stories might just make your heart pump a little but end in a groan, laugh or a roll of the eyes.
Fairy Tales - These stories have been around since the dawn of the ages (I wasn't there but I've been told).
Historical - History are stories that needs to be told. It ties our lives together and keeps us grounded. History is interesting ... if told in a story. It answers questions like, what does the Revoluntary War have to do with stock car racing?
Stories that I Like (that don't have a copy right on them) - Children, adults, middle school, elementary, high school, college ... everyone just wants a story told to them. Such as:
- Anansi - the trickster spider
- Poetry - Got my love of poetry from my father. He would recite poems to match the situation.
I Write Stories - I own the copy right so it makes things easy.
