READING ENRICHMENT AND LESSONS

Enhance your summer reading program with stories, puppets, and interactive lessons. Programs are customizable to meet your needs; a partial list of available programs is below.

Once Upon a Dream: Cinderella dreamed of becoming a princess. Tim Tebow dreamed of becoming a football player. I dreamed of becoming a storyteller and puppeteer. It took teamwork and determination. Whatever you dream, dream big—because dreams do come true!

Make a Splash: Dive into fun and adventure with puppets, balloon twisting, paper folding and storytelling. Together we’ll sail into tales from other lands that entertain but have “porpoise.” There will be stories that teach you to “fin” for yourself or not to be “shellfish.” From green frogs and fairytales, to going green and recycling, these stories are sure to make everyone “hoppy.” (P.S.—puns intended.)

Let's Talk Science: If it cracks and pops—it's chemistry. If it bites and snaps—it's biology. If it doesn't work—it's physics. These explosive summer stories for all ages will get your brain bubblin' and your heart pumpin'.

For additional show options, be sure to check out Schools and Festivals!

Lona Bartlett was an absolute dream to work with during our Summer Reading program at Cabarrus County Public Library. Low maintenance and knowledgeable of libraries, Lona knew what to include in a library program. She kept all the children engaged and even roamed around the library before the program to gauge her audience’s interest using a duck puppet that looks alive. Thank you for delighting our summer readers in Cabarrus County!
— Laurel Reisen, Branch Manager, Mt. Pleasant Library
Lona, you were absolutely amazing and such a joy to listen to! I am delighted that our students had the pleasure of listening to your storytelling today. I enjoyed seeing the looks of delight on their faces, as well as personally escaping into the worlds you created for us. Thank you so very much and I look forward to enjoying your stories again soon!
— Beth Slater, Media Specialist Dilworth Elementary, Charlotte, NC
Lona, thank you so much! Our students were beaming with excitement as you made the stories come to life! What a gift you have! Several students commented, “You are the best storyteller ever!”, and I agree. This is a day Daisy Elementary will not forget!
